HEY, IT'S TIME FOR YET ANOTHER SUMMER ADVENTURE! For 39 years, Will and Suzy Liegel and Theatre & Kids produced a wide variety of opportunities for area children and their families. Cantabile Children's Choirs traveled around the globe, winning 20 gold medals while a dozen varied productions each season brought forth great shows for youth casts. Spring multi-generational shows combined adults and kids in some of Broadway's biggest blockbusters. Summer also brought three camps accenting skills and briefer productions and Fall and Winter Saturday mornings still bring diverse classes and mini-musicals. Our Summer Caravan Road Show still makes some 50-plus stops throughout the area. But SIX years ago, T&K and the Liegels began offering something brand-new. A combination of all we have done rolled into three exciting summer weeks! And it has been a rip-roaring success. Our re-imagined Starlight Summer Performing Arts Camp takes the very best of our previous programs:
A FULL-SCALE BROADWAY-STYLE PRODUCTION - The last seven years of brought Music Man, Mermaid, Annie!,
Penzance. Oliver, Cinderella, and Beauty with creative costumes, sets, choreography - and totally delighted audiences!
ELECTIVES AND SKILLS DEVELOPMENT - Students choose from a dozen elective classes and then present what they learned in a special demo-performance time mid-way in camp. Puppetry, hip-hop, improv, crafts, scene work, acapella, stage make-up, show choir, tap, playwriting, stage combat, art, and songwriting are just some previous offerings.
VARIETY AND ENRICHMENT - Add in guest artists, a talent showcase, rec times, special morning and afternoon snacks, opening and closing times, daily games, competitions, prizes, and surprises nest alongside our electives.

To close..What can 60 young people do in only three weeks of time? More than you think! Our group of excited students grades 3-12 will learn a fully produced Broadway-style musical! While they learn the dances, songs, lines, and blocking they also learn the foundational basics of acting, singing, and even theatre crafts! Learning the value of hard work in a team atmosphere, show camp is a wonderful opportunity for children to learn the art of putting on a show in a low-stress, high-fun environment. The adult staff and high-school aged interns bring enthusiasm and excitement and the kids bring the talent!
Students grades 10-12 can sign on as performer/apprentices. On day one they try out for roles in the show like any camper. When rehearsals begin, they are given assignments based on training and ability in Music, Dance, Acting, assignments as aides in our Musical Production, accenting their interests in Music, Dance, Acting, or Technical Theatre - and learn skills they'll use for a lifetime. Last year, our apprentice team numbered an even dozen and enjoyed mentoring younger campers and shining on stage themselves. In addition, Apprentices enjoy higher-level elective courses, take part in our gala Staff/Apprentice Talent Showcase, and travel for a full day of shows and sight-seeing in NYC. This year we will continue to limit it to only twelve by application. Apprentice costs are $150 less than that of a camper, making it an easy way for the older set to keep on learning!
